The following incidents were reported to the Findlay Police Department and the Hancock County Sheriff's Office:

Police Department

A man was arrested for drunken driving in the 800 block of Cord Street after an officer saw his vehicle go left of center at about 2:45 a.m. Thursday.

Police responded to a domestic dispute in the 200 block of Washington Street at about 10 p.m. Wednesday. No domestic violence charges resulted, but a man was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia after an officer spotted a drug pipe in the residence.

A woman reported another woman driving a tan, full-sized car struck her vehicle at the corner of Crystal Lane and Breckenridge Road, and then left the scene at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.

Two rings and a necklace were reported stolen from a Brookview Terrace residence Sunday. A teen who had been at the home that day was questioned by police, but denied the theft.

Police responded to a Frazer Street residence Wednesday morning on a domestic complaint after a man became upset that his girlfriend kept waking him up for sex. No arrests were made.

A woman was arrested for drunken driving after she went left of center in the 4000 block of Fostoria Avenue at about 2 a.m. Wednesday.

A man was arrested for having an open container of alcohol, a bottle of gin, and marijuana after he was found partying in a vehicle parked in the 100 block of North Main Street at about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday.

A man reported he was bumped by a silver Jeep, which left the scene, as he walked across East Sandusky Street near Main Street at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. The man was not seriously injured.

Laptop computers were taken from vehicles parked at 610 Third St. and 101 Sixth St. on Wednesday.

Sheriff's Office

An Arlington man reported last week that he was being stalked by another man.

A Williamstown woman reported that she was threatened online by two teenage girls on Tuesday.

Common Pleas Court

The following activity took place in Hancock County Common Pleas Court:

Melissa A. Myers, 23, of Waynesfield, was placed on community control sanctions for five years on a fifth-degree felony theft conviction by Judge Joseph Niemeyer. Myers was indicted after she stole more than $500 cash and merchandise from Maurice's, where she was employed as a manager, between Sept. 7-26. As part of her sentence, she was ordered to make restitution of $3,750. She will have to serve a nine-month prison term if she fails to complete her sanctions.

Deshon C. Brownlee, 21, of Detroit, Mich., was sentenced to six months in prison by Judge Niemeyer on a fifth-degree felony possession of cocaine conviction. Brownlee was found guilty in January of possessing less than five grams of cocaine on Nov. 17 in Findlay. As part of his sentence, the defendant was ordered to forfeit $570 cash that was found in his possession at the time of his arrest.

Dennis L. Loudenslager II, 19, of Vanlue, was convicted of breaking and entering, a fifth-degree felony, and safecracking, a fourth-degree felony, by Judge Niemeyer, who ordered a pre-sentence investigation (PSI). The defendant was charged after he broke into Papa Johns Pizza, 1045 Tiffin Ave., and tampered with a safe at the business on Aug. 20.

Cari A. Young, 39, of Findlay, was convicted of possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, by Judge Niemeyer. A PSI was ordered. Young was indicted after being found with less than five grams of cocaine on June 16 in Findlay.

Coroner Rulings

The following death rulings were issued by Hancock County Coroner Dr. Leroy Schroeder:

Richard C. Myers, 87, of Findlay, died Feb. 6. Cause of death: renal failure secondary to closed head injury suffered during a fall. Final ruling: accidental.

James Malec, 59, of Findlay, died Jan. 31. Cause of death: single gunshot wound. Final ruling: suicide.

News Briefs No newspaper on Saturday
The Courier won't be published on Saturday, in observance of the July 4th holiday. All newspaper offices will be closed today.

The Courier will be published on Monday, and the newsroom will begin working on that newspaper at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Other Courier offices will resume operations at 8 a.m. Monday.

During the holiday weekend, Courier subscribers who have a question or complaint about newspaper delivery may call the circulation department at 419-422-5158 and leave a voice mail message.



Online news

While there won't be another Courier newspaper until Monday, look for news and sports updates this weekend at The Courier's Web site, www.thecourier.com.


Series of garage break-ins reported
Break-ins have been reported in seven garages in an area just south of downtown this week, according to Findlay police.

Residents on Washington Avenue, First Street, Maple Avenue, and Lima Street reported missing power tools and other equipment. The break-ins were reported to police Tuesday.

Among the missing items was a $500 Dewalt tool kit, stolen from a Lima Street garage.

There are no suspects in the streak of burglaries, according to police. However, according to the report, residents in the area reported seeing young people using lawn furniture to barricade alleys in the area Monday night.


Ottawa 'tea party'
OTTAWA -- Pastor Larry Bibler will sponsor a "tea party" rally at 1 p.m. Saturday on the steps of the Putnam County Courthouse in Ottawa.

Bibler intends the rally to celebrate freedom and protest taxes.
