Crash near Fostoria hurts Risingsun woman

FOSTORIA — A Risingsun motorist was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 1:19 p.m. today at the intersection of Ohio 613 and Washington Township 261, just west of Fostoria.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office said Betty Palmerton, 67, was transported with minor injuries to Fostoria Community Hospital.

The sheriff’s office said Travis Wolph, 21, of Findlay, was driving a Toyota Echo on the township road, did not yield at a stop sign, and struck Palmerton’s vehicle, which was traveling on Ohio 613.

Her car then hit a stop sign and a power pole, while Wolph’s auto hit a guy wire to a power pole.

Wolph, who was treated for injuries at the scene, was cited for failing to yield from a stop sign, the sheriff’s office said.

Assisting at the scene were the Washington Township Fire Department, Hanco Ambulance, Fostoria Fire and Emergency Medical Service, Reinhart’s Towing, and Mac and Bob’s Towing.
