Kurt named Findlay superintendent

Edward Kurt will be the next superintendent of Findlay City Schools.

The Findlay school board named Kurt as the district’s next school chief on Monday, concluding a search that started in October 2013. Kurt is currently the superintendent of Margaretta Local Schools and is expected to begin work in Findlay sometime this summer.

In his application, Kurt requested a $135,000 salary for the position, almost a $17,000 increase from what he is currently being paid at Margaretta schools.

Kurt was one of the original applicants for the job and applied at the end of October. The district later sought out applicants, including Kurt’s co-finalist, Ted A. Hug, of Ayersville schools.

Kurt will succeed current superintendent Dean Wittwer, who has served as the district’s school chief for nine years.
