State Wrestling: L-B’s Sarreshteh, Upper’s Pritchard reach state semifinals

Liberty-Benton’s Tyler Sarreshteh and Upper Sandusky’s Tylor Pritchard both won their quarterfinal matches to advance to tonight’s semifinals at the 77th OHSAA state wrestling championships at Value City Arena.
Sarreshteh, a fourth-place finisher a year ago, edged Dayton Christian’s Michael May to advance to the Division III 126-pound semifinals.
The L-B junior will face a semifinal rematch with Delta’s Kyle Keller tonight. Sarreshteh dropped a 4-2 overtime decision to Keller at last week’s district tournament.
Pritchard had an easier time of it as the Upper Sandusky senior stopped Amanda-Clearcreek’s Cole Genders 5-1 in his Division II 220-pound bout.
Pritchard will now face Plain City Jonathan Alder’s Troy Caldwell in tonight’s 6:30 p.m. semifinals.
Van Buren’s Chance Sonnenberg (160), Ada’s Austin Windle (160) and Elmwood’s Jake Wise (170) all won consolation matches to advance in the tournament and ensure at least a top eight finish in their respective weight divisions.
Findlay High School junior Justin Jolliff was eliminated from the Division I 126-pound weight class with a loss in today’s second consolation round.
We’ll have more on the area wrestlers in Columbus later tonight.
