Benton Ridge man injured in single-vehicle crash

Alcohol is suspected to have been a factor in a single vehicle injury crash that injured a Benton Ridge man around 9:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The accident occurred at the intersection of State Route 235 and Township Road 47.

Christopher E. Fletcher, 21, of Benton Ridge, failed to maintain control of his vehicle and traveled off the left side of the road where he struck a utility pole, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Fletcher suffered from non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to St. Rita’s Hospital in Lima via medical helicopter. Fletcher was wearing his seat belt and was the only person in the vehicle, according to the patrol.

Fletcher was cited for driving while under the influence and failure to maintain control of his car, according to the patrol.

Hanco EMS, Mt. Cory Fire and Lowery’s Towing assisted at the scene, according to the patrol.
