Some Time Warner customers see 6.5 percent increase

Some Time Warner Cable customers are seeing increases averaging 6.5 percent in this month’s cable bill, a spokesman said today.

The increase applies to new customers or customers not in a “promotional package,” according to spokesman Mike Hogan.

“The majority of customers, almost 70 percent, won’t see any immediate change to the price of their Time Warner Cable package,” he said,

One factor in the increase, Hogan said, is that Time Warner’s broadcast fees, the amount paid to the channel owners, increased by nearly 40 percent last year.
