The driver of a stolen vehicle that crashed into an Allen Township pond remains missing.
The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office dive team was alerted at 11:10 a.m. today to a sunken Dodge Neon near the intersection of Hancock County 220 and Allen Township 108, said Deputy Tamara House.
Nearby residents said they heard a crash between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. They called the sheriff’s office later in the morning, House said.
The four-door vehicle was removed from the pond in less than an hour, House said.
The car was reported stolen from the city this morning. Deputies continue to search for the unidentified driver, she said.
“There’s a lot of questions to be answered right now,” House said.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
