Driver injured after falling asleep at the wheel

One person was injured in an accident near State Route 613 and Township Road 262 in Washington Township around 8:51 a.m. today.

Brian Tiell, 51, of Fostoria, fell asleep while driving eastbound on State Route 613 and then began drifting into the westbound lane before sideswiping a semi tractor trailer driven by Wyatt Coddington, 45, of Zanesville, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. Tiell’s car went off the north side of the road before stopping in a field.

Tiell was transported to Blanchard Valley Hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

Tiell was issued a citation for going over marked lanes and his vehicle sustained damaged to its driver’s side and was towed from the scene of the accident, according to the sheriff’s office. Both Tiell and Coddington were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
