Unemployment rates drop in Hancock, neighboring counties

Hancock County’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.7 percent in March from 5.2 percent in February, the state reported.

Jobless rates declined in all 88 of Ohio’s counties in March. But Hancock County’s jobless rate was the sixth lowest in the state. It trailed Mercer County, 3.7 percent; Holmes and Delaware counties, 4.1 percent; Auglaize, 4.2; and Union, 4.6.

Unemployment rates in neighboring counties, with February rates in parentheses, were as follows: Allen County, 6.3 percent (7 percent); Hardin, 5.9 (6.4); Henry, 7.2 (7.8); Putnam, 5.6 (6.3); Seneca, 6.1 (6.7); Wood, 5.8 (6.3); and Wyandot, 5.6 (6.4).

The statewide jobless rate, seasonally adjusted, declined to 6.1 percent in March from 6.5 percent a month earlier.
