Ohio 613 crash injures truck driver, blocks highway

McCOMB — A Perrysburg man was injured Tuesday when the tractor-trailer he was driving rolled over on Ohio 613, between McComb and Van Buren.
Paul Richter, 58, was taken to Wood County Hospital in Bowling Green by McComb Emergency Medical Service, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.
The crash, reported at 10:22 a.m., blocked the state highway for over three hours.
Richter was driving a 2000 Kenworth truck, owned by Kitchen Steel Transport of Ottawa, on Ohio 613 when he lost control near the intersection with Portage Township 21, the sheriff’s office said. The tractor-trailer went off the side of the road and into a ditch, rolled onto its side and lost its load of over 60,000 pounds of rolled steel, the sheriff’s office said.
The truck was heavily damaged in the crash. Both the truck and rolled steel were removed by Ed’s Towing.
Hancock County Emergency Management Agency was called to the scene due to oil that spilled alongside the road and in the dirt, the sheriff’s office said.
Assisting at the scene was the McComb Fire Department.
The accident remains under investigation.
