A Fostoria woman was injured today when the GMC Suburban she was driving hit a railroad crossing gate and then overturned on Hancock County 18, northeast of Findlay.
Tamme Morehart, 40, was taken to Blanchard Valley Hospital by Hanco Ambulance, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Morehart was northbound on County 18 about 5:11 p.m. when she approached the Norfolk Southern tracks north of Hancock County 216, the sheriff’s office said. The crossing gate was coming down because of an oncoming train, and the Suburban hit the gate, the sheriff’s office said. Morehart lost control of the vehicle, which rolled over as it went off the east side of the road, the sheriff’s office said. The Suburban came to rest on its top, leaning against a power pole.
Morehart was cited for operation without reasonable control, and for driving under or around railroad crossing gates, the sheriff’s office said.
The Allen Township Fire Department and Miller Rigging assisted at the accident scene.
