UPDATE: Three arrests made after fatal Fostoria house fire

Three arrests have been made tonight in connection with a Fostoria house fire that killed two people and injured another person early today at 614 S. Poplar St.

Shey Weiker, 31,  and Charles Schaeffer, 44, both of 151 Taft Blvd.,  and Timothy Hall, 20, 126 Findlay St.,  are each facing multiple charges of aggravated arson and aggravated murder, according to Fostoria Police Chief Keith Loreno.

Police are not releasing the names of the fire victims.

According to Seneca County Auditor’s office, the Poplar Street house is owned by Daniel Marker Jr. His brother, Shane, has confirmed Daniel, 48, died in the fire. Shane also said six small dogs perished in the blaze.

According to a press release issued earlier today, the bodies of a man and a woman were found inside the Poplar Street home. Another woman survived the blaze and is being treated at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. Loreno said the survivor is unable to communicate with authorities at this time.

Acting Fire Chief Warren Digby said another woman was injured. He said she climbed out a window and was taken by ambulance to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital with burns and cuts.

The blaze was reported about 3 a.m. The house was destroyed.

Officials said it is unclear how the fire started. The State Fire Marshal’s Office has been called to assist in the investigation.

Tiffin firefighters assisted in battling the blaze.
