Early morning accident causes vehicle fire on Ohio 235

A Pennsylvania man was cited for driving under the influence after his car crashed and burned on Ohio 235 in Orange Township at 4:43 a.m. Saturday.

According to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, 23-year-old James Watson of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, was northbound on Ohio 235 when he lost control of his 2007 Subaru Impreza. The car struck a stop sign at the intersection of 235 and Ohio 103 before traveling off the east side of the road and coming to rest in a ditch, where it caught fire.

Bluffton Fire Department extinguished the fire. Watson did not sustain any injuries but was cited for operating without reasonable control as well as operating while under the influence, the sheriff’s office said.

Assisting at the scene were Bluffton Emergency Medical Service and Lowery’s Towing.
