Hancock County jobless rate stays flat; other area counties see declines

Hancock County’s unemployment rate stayed flat at 4 percent from April to May, the state reported.

Jobless rates declined among most neighboring counties last month, the State Job and Family Services Department reported. May unemployment rates among neighboring counties, with April rates in parentheses were: Allen, 5.2 percent (5.4 percent); Hardin, 5.2 percent (5.2); Henry, 5.1 (5.8); Putnam, 4.1 (4.4); Seneca, 4.7 (4.9); Wood, 4.9 (4.9); Wyandot, 4.3 (4.4).

Ohio’s unemployment rate declined in May to 5.5 percent from 5.7 percent in April, the state reported.
