Bettsville School District transferred to Old Fort

TIFFIN — Following Gov. John Kasich’s signing of a bill last week, the transfer of Bettsville School District to the adjacent Old Fort School District, was approved by North Central Ohio Educational Service Center board this week. The transfer is effective June 30.

The two districts will become the Old Fort School District, governed by one school board. The Bettsville school board was also dissolved with the territory transfer.

The Bettsville school building will be a kindergarten through sixth grade building. The Old Fort Elementary School will be closed. Students in sixth grade through senior high school will attend classes in Old Fort.

The state forgave $750,000 of Bettsville debt as part of the transfer, as well.
