ARLINGTON — A pair of levies — a new one and a renewal — are expected to appear on the November ballot to help fund the Arlington Fire Department.
Village Council on Monday gave the first of three required readings to ordinances that would place the issues before the electorate.
A 2.5-mill renewal levy for five years is being sought to fund general operating expenses for the Fire Department. It brings in $51,000 annually, according to village officials.
A new, 1-mill levy is being proposed to set aside dollars for Fire Equipment apparatus in the future, such as fire trucks and water tankers. If approved, this five-year levy would generate $20,000 annually.
