L-B board to meet, consider November levy

The Liberty-Benton school board will host a meeting Thursday morning to consider placing a combination levy on the November ballot.

Lisa Dobbins, treasurer, said she expects the board to approve the levy that would allow for the construction of a new kindergarten through eighth grade building.

The combination income tax and property tax levies will bring in an estimated $19.7 million, Dobbins said.

The proposed property tax is estimated to be at 5 mills and the income tax would likely be a quarter-percent tax. The district is still waiting for the county auditor to certify estimations on the millage and percentage of the taxes, Dobbins said.
