McLane paid $26,853 an acre for distribution center land

McLane Co. Inc. paid $26,853 an acre for 88 acres south of Hancock County 212 on which it will build a $38 million grocery distribution center, according to Hancock County records.

The 337,831-square-foot distribution center, to open in 2016 across from Lowe’s Distribution Center, will eventually employ about 425 people at an average wage of $57,000 per year.

McLane bought the land for about $2.4 million from George and Camille Ranzau, according to county records.
