A Fostoria man has been sentenced after creating a Facebook event that encouraged violence.
On August 18, Fostoria police were made aware of an individual creating an event on Facebook that was referred to as “Fostoria Purge Night.” The event was scheduled for a date and time in August and an invitation was sent to 208 people via Facebook.
Comments to the Facebook page included using guns, knives or “anything to kill”. Further, there were comments posted including “gang raping.”
Following an investigation, Andrew Wright, 24,was arrested and charged with inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Wright pleaded no contest in Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court and was sentenced to 15 days in jail.
