Valfilm expanding plant, workforce

Valfilm, maker of films for food packaging, metal adhesion and embossing, will start construction by July of a 48,300-square-foot expansion.

The addition will bring five to 10 additional employees when it opens in spring 2018, said Steve Shiparski, site manager for Valfilm. The number of additional workers connected with the addition will eventually grow to 20 to 30 workers, he said.

In addition, Valfilm is moving its North America headquarters from California to Findlay. That move will bring at least five additional workers to the Findlay plant, Shiparski said. Valfilm currently employs 101 in Findlay.

Findlay City Planning Commission today approved plans for the 48,300-square-foot expansion.

Valfilm operates out of the former Dow Chemical site, 3441 N. Main St., which has 139,000 square feet of building space. The addition will allow space for new lines that will grow Valfilm’s customer base in North America, said Alberto Geronimi, company president. Valfilm, formed in Brazil, is a subsidiary of Valgroup Packaging Solutions.
