Fostoria police receive Outstanding Service Award

Several Fostoria police officers received an award from the Owens Community College Alumni Association today for their work on a fraud investigation last year.

Detective Brandon Bell; officers Cory Brian, Gabe Wedge, Evan Ely, Nate Elliott; and dispatcher Karen Nesbitt were presented with the 2017 Outstanding Police Service Award.

The award recognized the investigation of a fraud in which a trio of individuals from Philadelphia scammed a local senior citizen out of a large sum of money last year.

As a result of the investigation, all three were convicted and sentenced to prison.

“I’ve always been proud of these guys,” said Fostoria Police Chief Keith Loreno. “This particular case was just another example of good police work.”
