Hancock jobless rate flat; Putnam’s is state’s second lowest

Hancock County’s unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.3 percent in October and September, while Putnam County’s declined to 3 percent last month, second lowest in Ohio.

Hancock County’s jobless rate was tied for fifth lowest, the State Job and Family Services Department reported. Others with a 3.3 percent unemployment rate last month were Auglaize, Delaware and Union counties.

Wyandot County’s 3.2 percent unemployment rate was tied with Holmes County for third lowest in Ohio.

Jobless rates declined in 39 of Ohio’s 88 counties in October.

Jobless rates in neighboring counties in October, with September rates in parentheses, were Allen, 4.5 percent (4.6 percent); Hardin, 4.4 (4.6); Henry, 4 (3.9); Putnam, 3 (3.2); Seneca, 4.2 (4.2); Wood, 3.9 (4.2); Wyandot, 3.2 (3.3).

Ohio’s unemployment declined to 5.1 percent in October from 5.3 percent in September, the State Job and Family Services Department reported.
