Fostoria woman hurt when car hits house

BASCOM — A Fostoria woman was injured when the vehicle she was riding in hit a house Friday morning.
Samantha Newlove, 28, was driving a Ford Escape west on Ohio 18 at about 9 a.m. when she lost control of the vehicle. The Ford went off the north side of the road and hit a house at 7517 W. Ohio 18, about one mile west of Bascom, according to a report from the Fremont post of the State Highway Patrol.
Newlove’s passenger, Jeanette Zavala, 24, of Fostoria, was transported to Mercy Health Tiffin Hospital by Bascom EMS, the report said. Zavala reportedly had non-life-threatening injuries.
Newlove was cited for operating a vehicle without reasonable control, according to the report.
The house sustained damage but was inhabitable. According to the Seneca County auditor’s website, the home is owned by Stephen Coppus.
