Former Allen County sheriff charged with soliciting, accepting bribes

Former Allen County sheriff Sam Crish has been indicted on federal charges that allege he took nearly $100,000 in bribes while in office.

The announcement was made this morning by U.S. Attorney Justin E. Herdman.

Crish, 54, of Delphos, turned himself into authorities this morning and will been charged in U.S. District Court in Toledo with three counts of bribery, two counts of extortion and one count of making false statements. Crish’s first court appearance is scheduled for this afternoon, according to reports.
