Denise Grant, city reporter, joined the staff in 1994. She covered public education for the first 17 years at the newspaper. An award-winning journalist, Grant has been writing for newspapers since her teens. Her first byline appeared in her hometown newspaper, The Toronto Tribune, in eastern Ohio. She earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the Franciscan University of Steubenville, and was hired as a staff writer for the Steubenville bureau of The Wheeling Intelligencer, just days after graduation. In 1991, she was named editor of The Vidette, a weekly newspaper in Columbus Grove. She is raising her two sons in Deshler, with the help of extended family, including her mother, two sisters and a brother in law. They all live on the same block, with all their pets and lots of flowers. Denise is a volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and a member of New Beginnings United Methodist Church. Her life goal is to develop a profound faith, the kind of stuff that moves mountains.
