Blanchard Avenue Pentecostal Church of God
The Blanchard Avenue Pentecostal Church of God will host its monthly nutritional seminar at 7 p.m. Monday.

McComb Church of Christ
McCOMB — The McComb Church of Christ will host an airing of a web-streamed live debate about creationism at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The debate will feature Bill Nye “the Science Guy” and Ken Hams, president of Answers in Genesis.
The program is free and open to the public.
Mount Blanchard UM
MOUNT BLANCHARD — The Mount Blanchard United Methodist Church will hold a Scout Sunday worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will assist with the service. Music will be provided by the praise band Broken Ground.
Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic
CAREY — The Our Lady of Consolation Retreat House, 321 Clay St., Carey, will host a retreat, “Creating Sabbath Space in Our Lives,” Feb. 14-16.
The primary focus will be a five-session video series with the Rev. Ron Rolheiser, with reflection and discussion led by the Rev. Marty Nassr.
The cost for the weekend is $135 per-person which includes meals, linens and program materials.
The retreat will also include presentations, group discussions, time for solitude, opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation and individual conferences, and a closing Mass on Feb. 16.

Salvation Army
A gospel praise gathering will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at the Salvation Army, 301 Center St.
The group sing will include numerous performers, including Sandi & Kaylene, Jimmy Potridge, Jericho Road, 4-4-1, One Voice, Paula Barron, Pat Roberts, the Seekers, Cornerstone Gospel, Miss Amanda, Chris Baldwin, Heart Song, Peggy Alexander, Arda Beekman, Jimmy Bloomfield, Jake Reel and the Gospel Praise Gathering Choir.
St. John’s Lutheran
The Rev. Cynthia Ritter has been named pastor of St. John Lutheran Church. She will lead her first service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday.
Sunday’s service will be observed as Scout Sunday and Boy Scouts will be recognized. A potluck lunch and court of honor will be held following the service.
Sunday is also the Souper Bowl of Caring Sunday, when members are asked to bring cans of soup which will be donated to Chopin Hall. Monetary donations will also be accepted and given to the Christian Clearing House.
Ritter will be installed at the 9:30 a.m. service Feb. 9. Bishop Marcus Lohrmann is scheduled to conduct the installation.
Following the installation service, the congregation will hold a welcome brunch featuring a baked potato bar and Dietsch’s ice cream.
Ritter was a radiological technologist for 32 years before embarking on a second career as a pastor. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theology in 2006 from Lourdes College and a Master of Divinity in May from Trinity Lutheran Seminary.
She and her husband, Tom, have four adult children.
St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran
JENERA — Bishop Marcus Lohrmann will present the message and assist with Sunday’s worship services at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Jenera for the congregation’s “Bring a Friend Sunday.”
Services are offered at 7:50 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and a praise-style service at 11:15 a.m.
Members are encouraged to bring a guest as well as cans of soup or other nonperishable food items to celebrate “Souper Bowl Sunday.” The donated food will be given to charity.
Sunday school for all age groups begins at 10:15 a.m. The children’s choir will sing during the 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services.
Unitarian Universalist
The Rev. Tim Barger, religion editor of the Toledo Blade, will speak at 10 a.m. Sunday at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 2415 N. Main St.
Barger will use the music of the late Pete Seeger in his presentation titled “Yearning on Hallowed Ground: Religious Humanism.”
