The Shelly Co., Findlay Division, is seeking donations for its sixth annual ” Don’t Stress Over the Dress ” campaign, a program which provides prom attire for girls who would be otherwise unable to attend a prom due to financial constraints.
The event is being sponsored with Chopin Hall and the Findlay Village Mall. Last year, 298 girls from 55 schools attended and 173 dresses along with accessories and other prom items were given away free of charge.
Items sought include:
Long and short formal gowns that are in new to gently used condition, in all sizes and colors. Gowns should be no more than five years old and dry-cleaned.
Purses, fancy costume jewelry, shoes, wraps, shawls, unopened hosiery, makeup, perfume and hair products.
Hair and cosmetology services, tanning packages, pedicures, manicures and garment bags.
Donations will be accepted until March 3 and can be dropped off at the Findlay office of the Shelly Co., 1700 Fostoria Ave., Suite 200. Donations are tax-deductible.
Distribution of dresses will be held from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 7, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 8 and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. March 9 at the Findlay Village Mall, 1800 Tiffin Ave.
Over 500 gowns will be available in all sizes and styles.
Each girl is allowed to receive one dress. She may bring one female guest to help her shop. Males will be asked to sit in a waiting area. An adult cannot shop for a girl unless the girl is present. There will also be drawings for free prizes.
