Honor Flight Northwest Ohio, the Toledo-based chapter of the Honor Flight network, has announced it will cease operations after four flights this year.
Honor Flight Northwest Ohio is separate from Flag City Honor Flight, the Findlay-based chapter.
The Honor Flight network provides free trips to World War II and Korean War veterans to visit memorials in Washington, D.C.
Honor Flight Northwest Ohio will offer flights April 30, May 21, June 18 and Sept. 24. It is anticipated that all World War II and Korean War veterans currently on its wait list will be able to be on one of the four flights.
As of March 1, Honor Flight Northwest Ohio is no longer approving new fundraisers. Effective March 15, the organization will no longer be doing presentations and will no longer be accepting donations and contributions.
Flag City Honor Flight will sponsor a flight June 3. Forms for veterans, guardians and volunteers can be downloaded at www.flagcityhonorflight.org.
The City Mission is participating in the Feinstein Foundation’s 17th annual $1 Million Giveaway to Fight Hunger.
All donations received by City Mission during March and April will help the agency obtain a portion of the $1 million challenge.
The Feinstein challenge is not a match program. Each organization’s portion will be based on the amount of funds raised by the organization in relation to the total amount raised by all agencies nationwide.
The more money contributed, the larger City Mission’s percentage will be. Both financial and food item donations will count toward the agency’s total.
