The Hancock County chapter of the Red Cross will offer training in the use of an automated external defibrillator, as well as instruction in CPR and first aid, in April at its office at 125 Fair St.
The first aid and CPR/AED course teaches people how to perform CPR and use an AED, what to do if someone is choking and how to prevent and respond to other emergencies until advanced medical help arrives. Course participants also learn how to control bleeding as well as how to care for seizures and other sudden illnesses.
On April 7, three classes will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon: adult CPR/AED; adult first aid/CPR/AED and adult and pediatric first aid/CPR/AED.
CPR/AED for the professional will be taught from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. April 21.
Advance registration is required. All classes have a web component which must be completed prior to classroom sessions. To sign up for a class, visit www.redcross.org/takeaclass or call 800-REDCROSS.
