Jeanne Rustic has been selected to receive this year’s Jeri Bjorling Memorial Distinguished Volunteer Award, given by United Way of Hancock County.
Rustic was selected because of her many volunteer positions in the community.
Among her many volunteer activities, she has served with the Convention and Visitors Bureau as chair and a member and with the University of Findlay’s Curtain Raisers Society, filling the positions of secretary and vice chairperson. She has been involved with Rotaract, chaperoning international trips and helping with events. Other organizations she has volunteered with include Harmony House, Salvation Army, Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem, Findlay Youth Orchestra, the University of Findlay Oilers Club and the Agency on Aging. She has been a volunteer with the Flag City Balloon Fest for 10 years.
She is currently a board member for Cancer Patient Services, a volunteer on the United Way of Hancock County strategic planning committee and is an usher and eucharistic minister for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
Rustic received a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Findlay.
She is a past recipient of the Kiwanis of the Year award and was a Kiwanis member for 10 years, serving in many committee chair positions.
“Jeanne’s expertise in nonprofits has been shared through her church, education, philanthropic groups, nonprofits and youth. Always a go-to person, she is a mentor. She has a way of inspiring people to take action that will make any situation better,” said, Beverly Phillips, community services director at United Way of Hancock County.
Rustic will be honored at United Way of Hancock County’s annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. April 10 at the Findlay Country Club.
