Findlay residents Jen Hochstettler, Jim Steffen, Matt Schumann and Christy Santistevan will compete Sunday and Monday in St. Louis for a spot on the NBC reality show “American Ninja Warrior,” which is a fitness competition.
The show selects 110 contestants out of thousands of applicants to come to each of five regional competitions.
All train at Steffen’s gym, XT Fitness.
Ninja games will be featured when Steffen hosts Maddie’s XT Games for Cystic Fibrosis May 17 at XT Fitness, 2725 N. Main St.
Teams of four people each will compete by completing three workouts, each judged by components such as most repetitions completed or most weight lifted. Workouts will include running, calisthenics, lifting, jumping, endurance and power.
Each team must have at least two females. Competitors will complete three workouts, with five different heats. The top two teams from each heat will move on to the finals.
Registration will begin at 7 a.m. with the first workout at 9 a.m. The final workout will start at 3 p.m.
A side “ninja course” will be available for children ages 7-12 and adults. Registration for the ninja course may be made the day of the event. There is a maximum of 20 children and 10 adults. The ninja competition will start at approximately 11 a.m.
The day will conclude with an after-party including a pig roast, music, raffles and auction.
All proceeds from the event will benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Steffen’s youngest child has cystic fibrosis.
