The Findlay Exchange Club is looking for nominees for its Proudly We Hail and Book of Golden Deeds awards. The awards will be presented at the 20th annual awards celebration May 6 at the University of Findlay. Other awards to be presented include Fireman of the Year, Law Enforcement Officer of the Year and Youth of the Year.
The Proudly We Hail Award is for individuals or companies who fly the U.S. flag continually and correctly. The Book of Golden Deeds Award is given to an individual or a couple for their lifelong commitment to the community.
Nominees may be submitted to any member of the Findlay Exchange Club, sent to Send an E-mail to maryborer or posted to the Exchange Club of Findlay Facebook page. The deadline to submit nominations is April 28.
The Findlay Exchange Club, in existence since 1930, is a service organization serving the Findlay and Hancock County community. Its core values are family, community and country. The club sponsors local baseball and softball teams, distributes youth scholarships and community awards, hands out flags at the Memorial Day parade and supports child abuse prevention programs. It also hosts the Healing Field, a display of U.S. flags, and created the Flags4Soldiers programs for area military personnel leaving for or returning from deployment.
Last year the club donated over $4,200 to CASA, City Mission, Chopin Hall, Coats For Christmas, William Ellerbrock Foundation, Feed-A-Child/YMCA, Habitat for Humanity/Home Repair Service, Hope House, Open Arms, Read For Life/dyslexia program, Ryan’s Place and the Salvation Army.
Anyone interested in learning more about the club is welcome to come to meetings, held on the first and third Tuesdays of the month from noon to 1 p.m. at the Rosewood Room in the University of Findlay’s Henderson Dining Hall. More information is also available by calling 419-427-8425.
