BOWLING GREEN — Olympic gold medalists Scott Hamilton and Sarah Hughes will join 12 national, world and Olympic figure skaters at the Bowling Green State University ice arena Saturday as guest emcees for the annual Skate for Hope fundraising show.
The 5 p.m. show will also include area skaters of all ages who raised funds for cancer research to earn their spots in the cast. Skate For Hope is a nonprofit charitable organization with a goal of eradicating breast cancer. To date, it has raised over $500,000 for breast cancer research.
Tickets for the show start at $11 and are on sale through ticketmaster.com and at BGSU’s Stroh Center box office.
Proceeds will also benefit the Scott Hamilton Cares Initiative, a partnership between Hamilton, a Bowling Green native and cancer survivor, and the Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute where he was treated.
Featured skaters include national silver medalists Felicia Zhang and Nathan Bartholomay; two-time U.S. national champion Max Aaron; Rachael Flatt, a 2010 Olympian and U.S. national champion; Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, Canadian national silver medalists and world team members; Caitlin Yankowskas and Hamish Gaman, British national bronze medalists; Emily Samuelson, 2010 Olympian; Alexe Gilles, U.S. junior ladies national champion; Emily Hughes, Olympian and U.S. national silver medalist; and Dan Hollander, world professional champion.
