Training offered in small business development

The Hancock Hardin Wyandot Putnam Community Action Commission will offer a 13-week small business development training class.
Classes will be held from 5:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. Thursdays beginning June 12 at the Family Center, 1800 N. Blanchard St.
Participants must reside in Hancock, Hardin, Wyandot or Putnam counties.
The course is designed for individuals interested in starting their own business and owners of existing businesses, but anyone interested in the topic may attend. Former class participants who need to make up a session may also attend.
A small business is defined as having one to five employees and less than $100,000 in annual sales.
The course will teach development of a business plan, financing a business, marketing, record-keeping, e-commerce, buying a business or franchise, insurance, banking, investments, understanding financial statements, legal forms and pricing products and services.
Participants will use the textbook “My Own Business” and learn to write a business plan. There will be access to one-on-one counseling and qualified participants will be eligible to apply for a revolving loan.
The course fee is based on household income, with a minimum cost of $25. Qualified applicants are eligible for mileage reimbursement if residing outside of Hancock County. Applicants who have income over the guidelines are charged a $100 fee.
