Glen Boatman, a research assistant at the University of Toledo, will present “Revisiting the Early Woodland Seaman’s Fort Earthwork Site” at Sunday’s meeting of the Blanchard River Archaeology Club.
The meeting will be held from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Phillips Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve on County Road 144.
Seaman’s Fort is an Erie County site where there was a village of Ohio’s first mound-building culture between 800 B.C. and 100 A.D.
Exotic materials will be the featured artifact profile. Those attending are asked to bring items from materials not native to Ohio. There will be displays of locally found artifacts and anyone is welcome to bring items for identification.
