Rustic receives Rotary’s Service Above Self Award

RusticJeannieWebThe Findlay Rotary Club’s Service Above Self Award was presented Monday to Jeanne Rustic.
The award is presented annually to a non-Rotarian in the community who exemplifies the Rotary ideals of professional leadership and service.
In his nomination letter, Rotarian Michael Momany called Rustic “a passionate and tireless community volunteer for over 50 years.”
“Her willingness to serve on boards is unmatched. She is completely comfortable taking on leadership roles as a chair or officer, or serving as a simple volunteer on a food kitchen line,” Momany wrote.
Rustic was selected because of her many volunteer positions in the community. Among the organizations she has volunteered for are Harmony House, Salvation Army, Court Appointed Special Advocates/Guardian ad Litem, the Agency on Aging and Cancer Patient Services. She has been a volunteer with the Flag City Balloon Fest for 10 years. Other volunteer work includes serving as a board member for the Findlay Youth Orchestra and serving on the University of Findlay Oilers Club advisory board. She is currently a volunteer on the United Way of Hancock County strategic planning committee and is an usher and eucharistic minister for St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church.
She is a past recipient of the Kiwanian of the Year award and was a Kiwanis member for 10 years, serving in many committee chair positions. She was also recently honored by the United Way of Hancock County as its 2014 Distinguished Leadership Award recipient.
