The Findlay Radio Club will host its annual field day from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday at Van Buren State Park.
The event will be held in the shelter off of Township Road 229 at the park’s south entrance.
Club members will demonstrate their emergency communication abilities and teach others how to obtain an amateur radio license from the Federal Communications Commission.
Amateur, or “ham” radio operators, can provide backup communications when natural and man-made disasters cause loss of the ability to communicate over modern devices such as phones and the Internet.
The field day is the climax of Amateur Radio Week, sponsored by the American Radio Relay League, the national association for amateur radio.
The Findlay Radio Club uses the call letters W8FT.
