ARCADIA — The Arcadia United Methodist Church will host an ice cream social from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. July 18 at the church, 19397 County Road 216, Arcadia.
Featured will be homemade noodles, pies, cakes, potato salad and soft-serve ice cream.
ARLINGTON — Arlington United Methodist Church, 230 N. Main St., Arlington, will host a showing of the movie, “God’s Not Dead,” at 7 p.m. Sunday.
The film is the story of a Christian freshman in college who is challenged by his atheist philosophy professor to provide evidence of the existence of God.
Free child care will be provided.
TOLEDO — Catholic Charities of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Toledo will host a workshop on openness in adoption from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Catholic Charities, 1933 Spielbusch Ave., Toledo.
Linda Schellentrager, an adoptive mother and communications manager of Adoption Network Cleveland, will present: “Embracing Openness for a Lifetime.”
Schellentrager and her husband enjoy an open adoption relationship with the birth family of their son.
Adoptive families, birth parents, social workers and those interested in learning more about adoption are welcome to attend the workshop. A donation of $20 is requested and will be given to Adoption Network Cleveland.

BLUFFTON — Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8375 Phillips Road, Bluffton, will hold an ice cream social from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.
The menu will include chicken and sloppy joe sandwiches, noodles, beans, salads, cakes, pies, beverages and Dietsch’s ice cream.
Enon Valley Presbyterian
An ice cream social will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. July 19 at Enon Valley Presbyterian Church, 20307 U.S. 224 East.
Sandwiches, pie and homemade ice cream will be served. “Buttons” will provide free balloon twisting for children.
Donations will be accepted for the Enon Valley Steeple Fund.
First Presbyterian Church, 2330 S. Main St., will host a community dinner from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday in its great room.
The menu will include hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, baked beans, chips and fresh fruit.
A recycle trailer from Litter Landing will be available in the church’s lower parking lot for collection this weekend.
First United Church of Christ
First United Church of Christ, 2100 Greendale Ave., will host guest speaker David Bowden Sunday and July 20.
Adult Sunday school is held at 9 a.m. and worship at 10 a.m.
Children ages 4-8 are invited to soccer Bible camp from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday next week at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2300 Northridge Road.
Children will learn basic soccer skills and receive a T-shirt, ball and water bottle for a $20 fee. Parents can join a discussion of instilling Christian values in children.

The program is Kingdom Rock: Where Kids Stand Strong for God. It is free and open to the public.
Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic
OTTOVILLE — The Ottoville Immaculate Conception Church festival will be held July 20 at the church, 189 Church St., Ottoville.
Family-style dinners will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the dining hall. Drive-thru and carry-out service will be available. A lunch stand featuring homemade soups, sandwiches, french fries and desserts will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. A baked goods booth will open at 8 a.m.
The Brass Notes will provide music.
The festival will also include games and entertainment for all ages including indoor bingo, pop toss and fish pond. A kiddie tractor pull will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The historical room on the second floor of the parish center will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A raffle drawing will be held at 8 p.m. A big ticket drawing for a $1,000 first prize and other cash prizes will be held at 9 p.m.
Our Lady of Consolation Roman Catholic
CAREY — The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation invites area singers to join the 2014 Assumption Choir.
The choir, along with a brass quintet, will lead the music for the vigil Mass of the Assumption at 9:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in Shrine Park.
Participation in the choir provides amateur and professional singers the opportunity to sing a wide variety of music with a short-term commitment.
Rehearsals will be held from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. July 27 and Aug. 3 and 10 in the original shrine church.

The menu will include chicken and pork sandwiches, potato salad, noodles, beans, pie and homemade ice cream.
The church is located at the intersection of County Road 203 and Township Road 135 in McComb.
ReStore Community Center
ADA — The third annual “Anything with Wheels” country church run will be held today, starting and ending at the ReStore Community Center, 210 N. Main St., Ada.
Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. All riders should be back by 4:30 p.m. when a meal will be provided. Music will be provided by disc jockey Wicked Mourning. The event will feature prizes for the first three winning poker hands and the lowest score. There will also be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.
The cost is $15 for one person and $20 for two people with each additional poker hand costing $5. Any vehicle with two, three or four wheels is welcome. The rain date is July 19.

Salem Cass United Methodist Church will hold its annual Joe Neds Memorial Barbecue and Silent Auction from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the church, 4699 County Road 236.
The cost is $9 for a half chicken or grilled pork chop, plus homemade potato salad, baked beans or applesauce, rolls, homemade pie and a beverage. Carry-out will be available and walk-ins are welcome.
Proceeds from the silent auction will benefit Salem Cass Church missions.
