Arlington church to host ‘Heaven is for Real’ author

Good Hope Lutheran Church in Arlington will host a presentation by Todd Burpo, author of “Heaven is for Real,” at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 at the University of Findlay’s Koehler Center.
Music will be provided by the Christian rock band Read You and Me.
Burpo, pastor of Crossroads Wesleyan Church in Imperial, Nebraska, wrote “Heaven is for Real” based on the true story of his son, Colton, who underwent a near-death experience at the age of 4 during a surgical procedure and was able to provide a very detailed description of heaven. The family initially dismissed his story until he began telling them details about people he never met, including Burpo’s deceased grandfather who died years earlier.
The book was made into a movie of the same name which was released earlier this year and starred Greg Kinnear as Todd Burpo.
Tickets will go on sale Tuesday through the Arts Partnership. The cost is $12.50 for students and $20 for adults. Proceeds will be divided among a variety of nonprofit organizations in the Findlay area and beyond. The event is expected to draw an audience outside of Findlay and to sell out, according to event coordinator Eric Alli, who recommends buying tickets early.
