Individuals diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders are encouraged to attend free “Delay the Disease” exercise classes at Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

Classes are held from 1-2 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays in the chapel and can accommodate those in wheelchairs.

Developed by Ohio Health, the program can help participants move about with ease and confidence in a crowd, get out of bed or rise from a chair independently, improve handwriting, dress independently and regain a sense of moving with normality. A physician referral is required and, if falling has been an issue, a participant must be accompanied by someone during the classes.

Live and Learn: Cosmetic and Facial Plastics @ Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital

Dr. Vincent McGinniss, an experienced cosmetic and facial plastic surgeon at the Facial Plastic Surgery Center of Northwest Ohio, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will host a “Live and Learn” lunch presentation from noon to 1 p.m. June 26 in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

The topic is “Cosmetic and Facial Plastics,” and attendees will learn about the options and benefits of aesthetic procedures. A question and answer session will follow.

Beat the Heat Yoga Retreat @ Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve

A “Beat the Heat Yoga Retreat,” hosted by the Hancock Park District, will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. June 9, 16 and 30 in the Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve.

Katy Mercer, a certified yoga instructor at Harmony Yoga, will lead the yoga series for beginners. Participants will focus on practicing poses that help cool down the body and mind, with a slow progression suitable for all ages.

Participants must be at least 10 years old and children must register with a participating adult.

Register, with $10 per person, by 4 p.m. the Friday before each class online at www.HancockParks.com under “Programs & Activities” or call the park district office at 419-425-7275.

The program will be held with a minimum of four and a maximum of 20 participants.

50 North Diabetes Support Group @ 50 North

A new diabetes support group has formed at 50 North.

The free self-management group meets from 10-11 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month and provides practical ideas to deal with symptoms effectively.
