50 North will host “The Colors of Cuba,” presented by volunteers Dean and Nancy Kessler of Carey, at 1 p.m. June 4. The program is free. In November 2017, a group of 50 North members embarked on a weeklong, people-to-people cultural exchange in Cuba. The Kesslers will bring the Cuba culture and music alive with stories and pictures. CRAFT Training 5:30 pm
CRAFT Training @ Findlay-Hancock County Public Library

Those worried about a loved one’s substance use can learn some possible solutions during an upcoming class offered by the Hancock County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services focused on the Community Reinforcement Approach and Family Training (CRAFT) model. The free class will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. on six consecutive Wednesdays, May 9 through June 13, at the Findlay-Hancock County Public Library, 206 Broadway St. Participants will learn new techniques and solutions to help move their loved one toward recovery, build a healthier relationship and improve their personal quality of life. The class is structured around the book “Getting Your Loved One Sober” and will be facilitated by community members who were trained by the author, Dr. Robert J. Meyers. Participants are encouraged to buy the book, but copies can be borrowed during the class. Call the Hancock County ADAMHS Board at 419-424-1985 to register.

A free panel discussion about composting hosted by Transition Bluffton will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the third floor Bluffton Town Hall meeting room, 154 N. Main St. The program is designed for both inexperienced and experienced composters and will consist of a short presentation and sharing by participants about what has worked well for them. Ideas for creating community-wide opportunities to compost will be discussed, in addition to single-home composting.

“Thrive Over 50 … Healthy Living Coaching” will be provided by Annie Hayes, a certified personal trainer and certified nutrition coach through Cornell University from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 25 and Aug. 22 at 50 North. Attendees will learn tips on ways to improve nutrition, ward off disease, build their immune system, reduce body inflammation, improve brain health, conquer weight concerns and develop an accountability plan. The presentation focuses on longevity and “progress over perfection.” Presentations are free, but registration is required at 419-423-8496.
