The inaugural Pat Wagner Memorial 5K Run/Walk is set for Aug. 1 at Liberty-Benton High School. The event, which was organized to celebrate the life of the long-time coach and educator who died last summer, has turned into a homecoming for those who share in his legacy with several of his past runners slated to take part in the race. The proceeds from the race will held fund a scholarship in Wagner’s honor. The race will begin at 8 a.m. Aug. 1 at the Liberty-Benton High School track. The registration fee is $27.50, and those who pre-register will be guaranteed a T-shirt with the phrase, “Tradition of Excellence,” which Wagner had printed on team shirts every year. Bluffton’s fireworks, postponed in late June due to the weather, is rescheduled for 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Bluffton’s National Night Out celebration at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool. The fireworks will cap off the National Night Out. The display should last between 20 and 30 minutes. The National Night Out and fireworks will take place on Snider Road, Bluffton.

Visit Arlington for the revival of the Homecoming Festival, renamed the Arlington Village Festival! Plenty is planned this weekend! On Friday, the festival willl kick-off with a parade through Downtown Arlington. Make sure you family visits the Kids Zone that will have carnival rides, inflatables, and much more! For teens in 7th–12th grade there will be a Punt Pass competition at 4 and a Dodgeball Tournament beginning at 8! The Cornhole Tournament will take place at 8 p.m. with registration at 7, and the Adult Zone with a beer garden and DJ will be open from 7–11 p.m. On Saturday, kick off the day with a 5K Color Run at 9 a.m., make sure you register at 8 a.m.! The Kids Zone will be open from 4–11 p.m. with a Kiddie Parade at 6. Craft Vendors will be on site from 4–10 p.m. and the highlight of the festival will be the concerts! At 4 p.m. don’t miss Sean Williams, followed by Nashville Crush at 7 p.m.! Tickets for the concert are just $5 and pre-sale tickets are available at Appleseed IGA, Jac & Do’s-Arlington, and Commercial Savings Bank in Arlington.

The Farmers and Merchants Picnic, also known as the F&M Picnic, is one of the oldest festivals in Ohio. Started in 1913, the picnic has become a two day affair with live music and tractor and truck pulls on Friday followed by a full day of entertainment, midway style events, food and people.

A movie and fun night will be hosted by the Beautification Committee of Mount Blanchard on the town square from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Aug. 15. Activities such as Candy Bar Bingo, cornhole and a bounce house will be available from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The bounce house will cost 50 cents per person. There will also be music at the event. The movie will begin at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs to the square. Kimmel’s chicken barbecue will also have dinners for sale for $8. The dinners include a half chicken, two sides and a roll. Tickets for the dinner will be available at Liberty Convenience, The Hair Stop, The Food Center and the pool. Desserts will be sold for extra charge.
