Nissin Brake Ohio is hosting “Comedy Night: Laugh United” on Friday, April 17 with proceeds going to United Way of Hancock County. The event will take place at Alexandria’s, 132 E. Crawford St. Two shows will be held at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Doors will open 45 minutes before each show. Presale tickets are available at Coffee Amici, 328 S. Main St., and United Way of Hancock County, 245 Stanford Parkway. Tickets will be sold at the door if available. Only cash will be accepted at the door. For an additional $20, a table of 10 can be reserved by contacting Chris May at 419-420-3930. There will also be a basket raffle, 50/50 raffle, cash bar and dining available. “Comedy Night: Laugh United” will feature Demetrius Nicodemus of 92.5 KISS FM’s Morning Rush, and Russell Rabb with Detroit Sports Media. Nicodemus was a bartender for Connextions Comedy Club where he began performing stand-up comedy. The Toledo native has performed for more than 15 years. He has toured Ohio and Michigan doing various comedy tours including “Small Town Comedy Tour.” Rabb is a highly-requested audience favorite in comedy clubs across the United States. The Ypsilanti, Michigan, native is a former U.S. Marine, actor, director and also provides workshops giving advice on how to write jokes.

The show will feature spring crafts, jewelry, glass and ceramic items, pottery, baked goods and sweet treats, yard art and wooden creations. All items are hand-crafted. Breast cancer awareness items will also be available. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided by Trinity United Methodist Church in Bloomdale. The show has been organized by Clare Bohn as a fundraiser for Cancer Patient Services in Findlay. Bohn is a breast cancer survivor who has benefited from services offered by Cancer Patient Services and wanted to give back to the agency. All table rent from the 27 crafters will be given to the agency and additional donations will be accepted. There will also be a raffle to benefit the agency. Cancer Patient Services provides mileage reimbursement to and from doctors’ appointments and chemotherapy treatments, nutritional aids, medical supplies and wigs, as well as financial assistance for prescriptions and medical bills. Services are available to anyone who lives or works in Hancock County.

Audience members may bring their own beverages. Concessions will be available. Headlining the show will be Chili Challis, a former writer for the “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” who has headlined comedy clubs, casinos, colleges and corporate shows for nearly 30 years. He has also been on nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom” radio show. The feature comedian will be Thaddeus Challis. A former musician who made the transition to comedy, he was a finalist for the Bob and Tom-Busch Light national comedy competition. The master of ceremonies for the evening will be local comedian Eddie Michaels. Proceeds from the show will benefit the Vanlue Athletic Boosters and the student athletes at Vanlue High School.
