Lifelong Bluffton resident Fred Steiner will present “The Bluffton We Never Knew” at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Allen County Museum, 620 W. Market St., Lima. Steiner’s program is free.
The book of the same name, released by Steiner this winter, takes the reader on a visual journey into Bluffton’s past. The book covers the years of 1861 to 1911 and includes nearly 175 rarely seen photographs of Bluffton scenes, people, businesses, churches, Main Street, the college, railroads, early vehicles and residences. Also included are 16 class photos taken before 1901.
The Ritz Theatre will show movies that played an integral role in the building’s history, which was built in 1928. The matinee movie series is dubbed “Close, but No Cigar,” featuring some of the greatest actresses never to win an Academy Award for Best Actress. “Judgment at Nuremberg” (1961) shows Nov. 15; “Auntie Mame” (1958) is Dec. 13; “Captain January” (1936) is Jan. 24; “Morocco” (1930) is Feb. 14; “Sorry, Wrong Number” (1948) is March 14; “Camille” (1936) is April 18; and “Splendor in the Grass” (1961) is May 16.
