A Christmas Celebration with the Toledo Symphony @ First Lutheran Church

First Lutheran Church in Tiffin will host the Toledo Symphony under the direction of Sara Jobin, Thursday, Dec. 18 at 7:30 p.m. The symphony will present “A Christmas Celebration,” a program of sacred music, which will include one number featuring the church’s Schantz organ played by the church organist, Curtis King. Tickets can be purchased at the church Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Findlay High School Symphony Orchestra will present its annual Pops Concert. The theme for the concert is “Looking Back: 30 Years of Making Music” and the orchestra will perform popular selections performed by Findlay orchestra students over the past 30 years. The audience will learn interesting facts about each musical selection. Tim Mattis, director of the Findlay Trojan Marching Band and Pantasia Steelband, will serve as the commentator. Mattis will also showcase his keyboarding skills, performing on the typewriter for the musical selection “The Typewriter” by Leroy Anderson. Other selections include: “Jupiter” by Gustav Holst, “Tales from the Vienna Woods Waltz” by Richard Strauss, “Salute to the Big Apple,” “The Muppet Medley,” and “The Pink Panther” and “Theme from Peter Gunn” by Henry Mancini. This is Pressel’s 22nd year teaching orchestra at Findlay City Schools. He received his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in violin performance from Ohio University. Anita Schaible serves as assistant director.
