Canoeing Day Camp @ Liberty Landing to Blanchard Landing
Jul 21 @ 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Teens can canoe along the Blanchard River during a day camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, beginning at Liberty Landing.

The trip, for 13- to 15-year-olds, will be from Liberty Landing to Blanchard Landing. Snacks will be provided, but participants should bring a sack lunch and a reusable water bottle.
If the water level is too low for canoeing or if too many obstacles exist, such as fallen trees, an alternate route will be from Zonta Landing at Riverside Park to the Ohio 568 bridge and back.
Register, with $15 per teen, by 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. A medical form is required and is available online at www.hancockparks.com or at the Hancock Park District office, 1424 E. Main Cross St.

The trip will be held with a minimum of six and a maximum of 20 participants.

Transition Bluffton Green Home Tour @ Bluffton, Ohio

Transition Bluffton is hosting a green home tour from 1-4 p.m. Sunday.

Three homes in the Bluffton area will be featured, and a prize drawing will be held for those who collect tickets at all three locations.

The tour showcases homes that emphasize energy efficiency and sustainable building. The three tour stops are a 1970s home with solar photovoltaic system (PV) and battery backup; a new home with monopole PV arrays; and a home with earth berm, PV solar and passive solar design. Attendees are encouraged to cycle, rather than drive, from one location to the next.

Maps are available at CG Pro Bikes, the Food Store and the Bluffton Public Library.

A program about plant, animal and insect homes, houses and habitats will be held from 9 a.m. to noon July 25-27 at three Hancock Park District locations: July 25 — Shelter 3 at Riverbend Recreation Area; July 26 — Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve; and July 27 — the gatehouse at Litzenberg Memorial Woods.

The program is for 4- to 5-year-old youngsters accompanied by an adult. Participants should bring a water bottle and wear tennis shoes.

Register, with $30 per child, by 4:30 p.m. Friday. A medical form is required and available online at hancockparks.com or at the park district office.

Unlikable Creatures In Nature @ Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve

A program about unlikable creatures in nature will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, July 31 in the Discovery Center at Oakwoods Nature Preserve.

There will be discussions about mice, rats, skunks, bats, spiders and snakes. Snacks will be provided, but participants should bring a sack lunch and a reusable water bottle.

The program is for 6- to 12-year-old youngsters.

Register, with $15 per child, by 4:30 p.m. July 27.
