Brimfield police chief to visit

The Flag City Morning Rotary club will host David Oliver, chief of the Brimfield Police Department, for a fundraising luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Feb. 5 at the Findlay Country Club.
Oliver has published a book of essays and humorous crime reports and letters titled “No Mopes Allowed.” He has also developed a large following on Facebook for the humorous messages he posts on the Brimfield Police Department’s page. He gained national attention in December when he posted a letter to entertainer Kanye West after West compared his occupation as a rap singer to that of a soldier. The page now has over 138,000 followers.
Brimfield, in Portage County near Akron, has a population of 3,248.

Flag City Morning Rotary will also host a book signing with Oliver from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 4 at Waldo Pepper’s restaurant. Books will be available for purchase.
Proceeds will benefit the Shop with a Cop program.
