Volunteer Hancock County website accepting new agencies

The steering committee for the Volunteer Hancock County website is accepting new agencies that wish to list volunteer opportunities.
The website, at, offers a listing of volunteer opportunities and the chance for prospective volunteers to find out where they might be most needed.
Currently, there are 16 organizations participating in the collaborative software. These organizations are involved with or have a relationship with one of The Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation Schneider Circle participating agencies. In the beginning of the project, the steering committee limited the number of participating agencies to assure the site was working appropriately. Now that the website is running well, new agencies can be accepted.
There will be two open enrollment time frames, in February and June.
To be eligible for joining Volunteer Hancock County, the agency must be: a nonprofit organization holding a 501(c)(3) status, a school or a faith-based organization or group; conducting business in Hancock County; and be able to pay a nonrefundable $250 annual fee to cover software costs and marketing of the site.
Organizations interested in enrolling this month should contact Jennifer Swartzlander at and include the contact name, agency or group name, and an address for the annual fee invoice.
Children’s Mentoring Connection
Larry Jones was elected president of the Children’s Mentoring Connection of Hancock County during the annual meeting held Jan. 29 at the University of Findlay.
Other officers for 2014 include: Jennifer Hausserman, president-elect; Brandon Mills, vice president; David Beltz, treasurer; and Lisa Snyder, secretary.
New board members elected were Amy DePuy, Chris Neely and Judy Pusateri. Re-elected for new three-year terms were Chuck Clapper, Hausserman, Craig Kupferberg, Alex Treece, Nicole Winkle, Beltz, Jennifer Bateson and Brandon Mills.
Outgoing board members Lindsay Arnold and Todd Olsen were recognized for their service.
Jones noted that 2013 was a year of growth for the agency, focusing on recruiting members and increasing community visibility through a branding grant from the Findlay-Hancock County Community Foundation.
The agency also established the annual Jebbett Award last year which is awarded in recognition of exemplary service contributing to the success of the Children’s Mentoring Connection. The award was named in honor of Kathy and Duane Jebbett for their commitment to Hancock County youth through service and volunteerism. Gary Fay was the 2014 Jebbett Award recipient. Fay served as a Big Brother and as a Children’s Mentoring Connection board member and foundation trustee. He was the caretaker at Camp Beck for nearly 20 years.
The Children’s Mentoring Connection Foundation also elected officers. They include Brooks Gray, president; Kathy Jebbett, vice president; Chuck Stumpp, treasurer; and Nancy Cramer, secretary.
