FHS choirs, ensemble rated ‘superior’

Findlay High School’s freshman, concert and symphonic choirs, as well as its wind ensemble, participated in the Ohio Music Education Association’s District III Large Group Adjudicated Event Friday and Saturday at Lima Shawnee High School in Lima.
The ensembles performed three music selections for a panel of three judges who provided the group with written and recorded comments and assigned a rating from one to five, with one being the highest rating of “superior.”
The ensembles were also required to sight-read a fourth selection for a fourth judge. The four scores were averaged for a final overall rating.
All four ensembles received superior ratings, which qualifies them to participate at the state level the first weekend in May. Bands will perform at Findlay High School and choirs at Van Buren High School.
The freshman, concert and symphonic choirs are directed by Kevin Manley and Tim Mattis. The wind ensemble is directed by Mattis.
