Race to benefit tornado victims

OTTOVILLE — A 5K run/walk and kids’ fun run will be held April 5 at the Ottoville Park to benefit the families affected by the Nov. 17 tornado which hit Cloverdale.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. The 5K race will start at 11 a.m. and the fun run at noon.
The tornado leveled a church and damaged many residences and other property. Many residents are still rebuilding their lives and are in need of financial assistance to recover from the damage.
The Ottoville Mother’s Club and the Cloverdale Recovery Task Force are hosting the event.
Participants are encouraged to pre-register by Tuesday. Entry forms can be picked up at the Ottoville post office and other locations throughout Putnam County, and are also available online at
The family-friendly event will also include pre-sale barbecued chicken dinners. Tickets are $7.50 and can be purchased in Ottoville at the Express Mart, Fort Jennings State Bank, Main Street Market and the Ottoville Bank Co.
Other race events include a silent auction, bake sale and 50/50 drawing. To donate an item for the auction, call Marilyn Calvelage at 419-605-7897. Baked goods are also welcome and can be dropped off at the Ottoville Parish Center fitness room from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. April 4 or at 8 a.m. April 5.
To make a cash donation, send a check payable to “Cloverdale 5K” and mail to Tammy Saxton, 18321 Road R24, Fort Jennings, OH 45844. Donations can also be deposited directly at the Ottoville Bank.
